IPhone 3G S Review

The new iPhone has been released – iPhone 3G S.

Apple called this iPhone ’3G S’ where the S refers to it’s amazing speed. The main upgrade of this iPhone is the speed and probably the only and biggest reason that may attract you to upgrade to this new version.

There are not much features apart from the above mentioned big one that may attract people. From the outside, this new iPhone is just the same as its predecessor was. In fact, it is exactly the same if you leave few things. This new model is slightly heavier with glossy text on the back.

The screen is more reflective (slightly) as it has the new resistant for the fingerprints – ‘oleophobic’ coating. Also it shows a rainbow effect when you reflect a monitor with this iPhone. Actually, the coating works for preventing the fingerprints and face grease, but it remains the gadget still smooth and usable even when there are fingerprints on it.
This iPhone does not have the sticking problem even in the areas that are relatively greasier.

It is also easy to clean it just by using your shirt.

The 3GS display is slightly warmer than its previous version as it has a yellow/orange tint. The warm screen is easier on the eyes even when the brightness is very high. The video playback proves the claimed improved speed. It features Safari for browsing, camera working very fast as it comes with 3.0 software, and even booting the device takes just half the regular time. The apps that take long loading times like Sims 3, Metal Gear Touch and Oregon Trail… all of them work much faster. Everything is really faster than ever. It’s like switching from an old computer to the newly launched speedy machine.

The iPhone 3GS features a CPU with 600MHz and 256MB RAM (changed form 400MHz and 128MB) so, a much higher performance for the future apps! The OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics standard is also great for the visual boost.

One important thing to note is that the iPhone 3G will run most of the future games as stated by Apple, so some of you may not want to switch.

The new iPhone has a 3 megapixel camera that with video recording auto focus. The interface is very good, it allows you to tap a section that you want to focus on and it automatically adjusts the focus to that point.

Now, talk about video quality, it is really good. According to Apple, it is up to 30 frames every second and it comes pretty close. The video is smooth as hell, the recording part is not great in deemed light as it’s a limitation of the camera. The ‘tap-to-focus’ feature carries over to video, so you can use it to ‘aim’ the camera at a specific part of a scene.

The Nike+ support works fine, it enables you all to run the features smoothly. It comes with a stereo Bluetooth headset, so listen to music, run and also answer a call.

The Voice control feature work fin too as long as you know the right commands. The accuracy is really great and this app recognizes what you say provided there is no too much noise in the background. And interestingly, if you have contacts with similar names, then it will call all the similar names asking you to be more specific.

At last we come to the price. If the 3G users are eligible for an upgrade in the month of July, August or September, then AT&T invites you to do so at the subsidized rates – 9/9 price under different monthly plans. And if you are not eligible, then wait until your 18 months are up.
